Sunshine and steam at Wimborne’s Model Town
The fine weather for Wimborne Model Town’s Mini Steam and Vintage Day drew in the crowds and a whole range of exhibitors.
Wimborne Model Town’s Mini Steam and Vintage Day drew in the crowds and a whole range of exhibitors. There was a line-up of vintage vehicles to enjoy, too. Also on display were railway posters and Bayko model-building sets from the pre-Lego era.
The Land Girls provided musical entertainment throughout the day.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Wimborne were among the first to take a steam ride around the 1950s model buildings, while heads turned in the full-size town centre as the steam traction engine Princess made majestic progress through the Square and High Street before steaming gracefully into the charity attraction.
“What a day we have had, with mini steam rides, classic cars, motorbikes and the fabulous early 50s Leyland Titan bus taking our visitors around the full size town next door,” commented Greg Hoar, General Manager of the vintage miniature world, which remains open until 29 October.
