Support for VE Day 80 events in Poole
People who are organising VE Day commemoration events in Poole are invited to contact The Charter Trustees of Poole.
The Charter Trustees of Poole say they are supporting this year’s VE Day celebrations by attending events organised by local communities.
The Mayor of Poole, Pete Miles said: “As we commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day, it is important for our community to come together in remembrance and celebration.
“While the Charter Trustees are limited in organising events due to our constitution, we are eager to participate and support the wonderful initiatives planned by our residents and local organisations.
“If you are organising an event, no matter how big or small, we invite you to share the details with us so that we can make arrangements for civic attendance and celebrate this historic occasion together.”
Please send information about your VE Day events to the Mayor’s office.
As per the current constitution, the Charter Trustees are not permitted to organise events independently. This responsibility falls under the jurisdiction of BCP Council who are organising a BCP wide-celebration and beacon-lighting to be held at the BCP Civic Centre on Thursday 8 May.
For further details or to share event information, please contact the Mayor’s office at mayorofpoole@bcpcouncil.gov.uk.
