More than 200 people assembled at Pelhams Park on Sunday June 1 for a five-a-side World Cup in aid of local charity, Lewis-Manning Hospice, raising £1,800 with the help of match funding from Barclays.
The one-off event was organized by Ashley Cross-based property agent Leader & Co, who recruited 26 teams to take part each picking a country name out of a hat as a team name.
Leader & Co played as ‘Chile’ and reached the semi-finals, with the final match played between ‘Iran’ and ‘Switzerland’ resulting in a two-all draw, the latter winning on penalties.
As well as a trophy, the winning team was asked to choose a charity and Leader & Co made a £100 donation, ‘Switzerland’ chose Cancer Research
