Being back at school after a six-month break could be traumatic for some pupils, however Mid Dorset Primary Care Network has created a scheme prioritising the students’ physical and mental health and wellbeing.
Dorset schools have the chance to own a free Green Flag.
Some 40 primary, middle and secondary schools across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole have received an award in recognition for their work to protect children against bullying.
In this the first week that more children have returned to school, 75 per cent of Dorset schools have welcomed additional pupils into Reception and Year One, and around 50 per cent into Year 6. This will increase as some schools are opening in a phased way starting with younger pupils.
Today (16 April 2020) is the day when families in Dorset will find out which school their children will be joining in September.
