Several car parks in the town will be offering free parking on 6 and 13 December to enable people to enjoy events such as Carols in the Square.

In the run up to Christmas, Dorset Council is permitting free parking on certain dates in its car parks to help shoppers.

New Forest District Council has announced it will provide four days of free parking to support its local businesses and communities.

Dorset Council-run car parks in a number of towns in the county will be free on 30 November, 7 December and 20 December.

Free parking will be available in 12 towns in the Dorset Council area on Small Business Saturday 3 December.

The free parking in Dorset Council car parks for NHS and care workers is set to end on what could be Freedom Day on 19 July.

Free parking for NHS workers, which ran last year, and was reinstated in November is to continue to the end of February.
