People in the Bournemouth area can now donate at contactless giving points to help homeless people to leave life on the streets.

St Mungo’s is looking after people living on the street who are at high risk of becoming unwell during very hot weather.

Very often homeless or rough sleeping people end up being re-admitted to hospital once they are discharged.

The HealthBus Trust has recently received a donation of £31,500 to help fund the purchase of a new mobile clinic.

In March 2020 there were 370 rough sleepers in the area, but that has now decreased to 13, the lowest for 10 years.

BCP Council will join a collaborative network that supports local areas to improve their response to homelessness issues.

Funding with enable rough sleepers in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole to continue to be supported during the pandemic.

Lockdown was particularly traumatic for rough sleepers, but it would appear that Bournemouth has worked well to alleviate the problem.
