Record industrial action this week could see one of the most difficult starts to the year for health services across the country, the NHS has said today.
England’s top doctor has warned that the NHS is facing weeks of major disruption when services are already under significant winter pressure.
Due to strikes by members of the ASLEF union, there will be severe disruption to train services later this week.
New data published on 17 April by NHS England on the junior doctors’ strike shows in summary that over four days last week there were 195,000 cancellations.
Three centres in Dorset will be open on 18 and 19 January but four others will be closed during the strike.
There will be more ambulance strikes on Wednesday 11 January and the ambulance service is asking people to think before dialling 999.
South Western Railway say the service will be disrupted from 18 December to 2 January and passengers should check before travelling.
Due to planned national strikes, South Western Railway is urging customers to only travel by rail if absolutely necessary from 5 -10 November.
South Western Railway, which operates services from Bournemouth and Poole, plans to have a normal service on 15 and 17 September.
