Dedicated Swanage Railway volunteers are supporting the town’s annual regatta and carnival by running extra trains – so revellers can leave their cars at Norden Park & Ride and let the train take the strain.
Evening diesel trains will be running from Norden Park & Ride – just north of Corfe Castle – to Swanage throughout Carnival Week which runs from Saturday, 27 July, to Saturday, 3 August, 2013, inclusive, and raises money for local charities and good causes.
The last evening train leaves Swanage for Corfe Castle and Norden Park & Ride at 10.30pm with the last train from Corfe Castle back to Swanage departing at 10.50pm.
Tickets giving unlimited evening train travel from 6.30pm cost just £3 for adults and £2 for children with a family ticket – covering two adults and three children costing just £9 while children under five travel free.
There will also be extra late night trains on Saturday, 27 July, and Saturday, 3 August for the evening fireworks displays on Swanage seafront with the last train from Swanage to Norden Park & Ride being at 11pm. The last train departs Corfe Castle for Swanage at 11.37pm.
Additional trains will also be running on Sunday, 28 July, for the Royal Air Force’s Red Arrows display team which is set to roar into the skies above Swanage at 5.30pm and overflow car parking is being provided next to Norden station.
Throughout Carnival Week, steam trains depart Swanage and Norden Park & Ride stations every 40 minutes between 10am and 6pm with the services passing each other at Harman’s Cross station.
Outside carnival week, evening trains run daily until Thursday, 5 September, 2013 (inclusive) with tickets giving unlimited evening train travel from 6.30pm costing just £3 for adults and £2 for children. A family ticket covering two adults and three children is £9 with under fives travelling free.
The 7.10pm train from Swanage runs to Norden Park & Ride before the car park shuts while the 8.10pm and 10.30pm trains from Swanage terminate at Corfe Castle – unless foot passengers request to be taken to Norden station because they are staying at the Norden Farm campsite and bed and breakfast. The last train for Swanage leaves Corfe Castle at 10.50pm.
