Staff at Care South’s Talbot View care home in Bournemouth took part in Dignity Action day (1 February). The day is an annual opportunity for health and social care workers, and members of the public to promote the need to uphold people’s rights to dignity and provide a truly memorable day for people who use care services.
Staff at the home have created a dignity tree full of gold stars to indicate the positive aspects of dignity which they offer every day. Each star contains a note written by the staff on how they promote dignity. A tea party was held for the residents and they were treated to a special day of pampering, assisted by girls from Glenmoor School in Ensbury Park, Bournemouth.
Home Manager Nick Holman commented, “Dignity in Action day really is a fantastic idea. A dozen of our staff have signed up to be Dignity Champions and we are very proud of them. In life it can often be the little things that all add up to uphold dignity. Here at Talbot View we want residents to be able to live their lives how they want and remember that it is their home. Dignity is never simple, but always important.”
