A launch event at Bournemouth University has marked the opening of Dorset’s Rock Star Awards 2017, sponsored by some of Dorset’s prestigious employers.
Entering their fourth year, the Rock Star Awards 2017 are now open to public nominations. Featuring nine categories, and sponsored by some of Dorset’s prestigious employers, the awards celebrate young people’s talent across the county. They are now looking for 16-26 year olds with impressive achievements and bags of determination.
Welcoming young people, past winners, businesses, and sponsors, over 50 people recently attended the launch of the Rock Star Awards at the Business Executive Centre at Bournemouth University. At the opening, plans were unveiled for a bigger and better event than before.
This year the awards will culminate in an enlarged awards ceremony at the Bournemouth O2 Academy on 19 October. The event will also be raising funds for charity for the first time. Contributions will go to BERTIE of the Royal Bournemouth Hospital Charity, which is a platform that helps support young people and adults with Type 1 diabetes.
Angela Piromalli, the managing director of Rock Recruitment and founder of the Rock Star Awards, comments, “It was an absolute delight to open the Rock Star Awards for another year. Increasing in size and popularity, these awards have helped to bring many talented young people to the attention of Dorset employers. We now need your help to find the next Rock Stars. They can be either working for a company, self-employed or studying but must stand out from their peers.’’
