Staff from Teachers Building Society with the help of Bournemouth Rugby Club, made a difference to 30 local Dorset students this week, thanks to the ‘My’ Life programme by Destination Education.
Often linked to their GCSE options, the ‘My’ Life programme allows young people to identify their goals and dreams for the future and to think about the all-important steps they need to take to make their dreams a reality when they leave school. Students from Harewood College took part in the beneficial programme on April 22 to help with their life choices.
It was the first time that the workshops had been held at the rugby club, being held previously this year at Hamworthy Fire Station, the Dolphin Centre and RockReef, and it was a huge success with the students finishing their day with a spot of motivational rugby-inspired activity.
James Bawa, Chief Executive from Teachers Building Society, said: “It’s great to see these workshops continuing to have a positive impact on the lives of local students and it’s good to see other local business and sport facilities supporting them. We’re proud to be a premier partner for the programme.”
Elaine Plested from Destination Education, said: “It was evident from the first time we met both Teachers Building Society and Bournemouth Rugby Club that they clearly understood the need to support these vulnerable students and the fantastic difference that they could make by being involved.“
James Croker, newly appointed CEO of Bournemouth Rugby said, “Bournemouth Rugby are delighted to work with Destination Education, our new community partner, local schools and local businesses to deliver an inspiring day for these amazing children. As a first initiative for our newly formed community team it shows a blueprint for a whole community coming together and we are proud to be a part of it.”
