The new Lifestyle Active Gym at Verwood Hub opens tomorrow.
It’s bang up to date with new technology and whilst doing your workout, you can watch TV, listen to music, surf the ‘net’, check your emails, check your heart rate and even challenge your mates, or yourself, to see how quickly you can complete the Tour de France. If someone had told you this was all part of the gym package 10 years ago, you wouldn’t have believed them. But it’s all at your fingertips now. Going to the gym has never been so exciting.
As well as all this, LIfestyle Active in Verwood offers a programme for people coming through GP referrals. General Manager Jacqui Sainsbury says, “We are pleased to have secured funding for GP referrals and have the equipment to back it up. There are stations for those with mobility problems – for example the Run Med rehab treadmill, funded by Awards for All.” It’s an impressive piece of equipment suitable for those with medical conditions such as cardio or diabetic problems. POPPs (Partnership for Older People Projects) has also supplied Lifestyle Active Gym with two Monark ergometer fitness testing bikes, which are due to arrive shortly.
Advanced GP referral instructor, Carly Howard said, “I will fitness test people and give them individual programmes. As well as all the new equipment, members will also benefit from supervision in the gym at all times.
The large 50-station gym is complemented with a 10 bike spinning room plus spacious new changing rooms and showers.
Is there anything missing? A holographic partner maybe – but I expect those will be available shortly.
