Teddy bears get ready for picnic at Wimborne Model Town
Get your teddy bears down to Wimborne Model Town this weekend for a grand day out at Bear Weekend including a Teddy Bears Picnic!
Wimborne Model Town are celebrating teddy bears with lots of activities during an exciting Bear Weekend on 25 to 26 May. And everyone and their teddy bears are invited.
The Wareham Bears will meet the STARS Dorset trauma teddies at 12.30 pm on both days for a picnic on the lawn, and visitors are invited to join them. Teddy Bear Picnic boxes will be available to buy at the tea room. The Wareham Bears, who now live in comfort at Wimborne Model Town, will welcome STARS Dorset bears Kit, Wiggles, Serenity, Courage and Ziggy. These bears have been hand-knitted and donated, and the names were chosen by readers of Dorset View, Viewpoint, Mudeford Mag, The Bulletin and BH6 and 7. They are currently on tour with Pulford Publicity but will be amongst a number of bears given to the victims of trauma and abuse by the charity Sexual Trauma And Recovery Service (Dorset).
Children can have teddy bear faces painted. Wimborne Town Council have kindly given the Model Town a grant for activities including face painting, so all proceeds will go to STARS and the Model Town.
Story tellers Marie Tudor and Marilyn Barber will entertain audiences with teddy bear adventures, and there will also be stories about the Wareham Bears and what they get up to.
There will be craft activities, a raffle and teddy bear quizzes. A special Teddy Bear Tombola could win you a pre-loved teddy bear.
Tickets to the Bear Weekend can be bought on the day at Wimborne Model Town and the good news is that the tickets are now annual passes, so visitors can return to the model town in Wimborne as often as they want for a whole year. Family tickets are just £30. For other ticket prices, please visit www.wimborne-modeltown.com.
