Teddy20 founder will embark on a four day cycle tour from Paris to Blandford, and is to be completed at Teddy Rocks Festival, Friday 28 April.
Owen Newton, founder of children’s cancer charity Teddy20, is embarking on 320-mile cycle tour from Paris to Blandford on Monday 24 April.
In partnership with Low Energy Designs, Owen, from Blandford Forum together with Alan Parker, Steve Griffiths and John Jenkins are starting Le Teddy Tour in Versailles, Paris.
Owen started the charity Teddy20 after his son Ted Newton passed away from a rare bone cancer in 2010. Since this time, Owen has completed a series of challenges including cycling 265 miles through the Nevada desert and hiking the Rocky Mountains in Canada not to mention summiting Kilimanjaro to raise money for children fighting cancer. Owen’s eldest son Tom Newton is the founder and director of Teddy Rocks Festival that takes place later this month on Friday 28 April – Sunday 30 April, and donates profits to Teddy20, for the purpose of supporting children and their families in the south being treated for cancer.
This year the Teddy20 Team is planning to complete Le Teddy Tour on Friday 28 April at Teddy Rocks Festival, after a 74-mile stint from Portsmouth Harbour Station Pier. Other stops on the tour include Saint-Etienne-Du-Rouvray, Courseuilles-Sur-Mer and Cherbourg-Octeville, completing a total of 320 miles.
Owen Newton, Teddy20 founder said, “Last year we cycled from Bournemouth to Paris just after Teddy Rocks so we thought it was only fitting that we should complete the return journey back from Paris and hopefully arrive back Friday late afternoon to enjoy this year’s festival.
“All the money raised from this year’s cycle challenge will go towards the running cost of Ted’s Shack, Teddy20’s respite holiday home for children undergoing cancer treatment.
“Some special thanks must go to Alan Parker and Sophie Ferry of Low Energy Design who have sponsored this year’s challenge and have worked very hard over the past few weeks planning, organising and booking this year’s Le Teddy Tour.’’
