Teenager arrested following Southbourne beach assault
Enquiries are continuing and Dorset Police would like to hear from any witnesses, particularly a male cyclist who was assaulted.
A teenager has been arrested and released on police bail following an altercation on Fisherman’s Walk beach in Southbourne at approximately 11.50pm on Thursday 23 June.
During the fight, which involved a group of young people, it is alleged that two boys were assaulted and a bottle was smashed in the face of one of the victims. They were both taken to hospital for treatment.
It is reported that one of the group was in possession of a knife.
It was further alleged that the group assaulted a male cyclist who was in the area around the time of the incident.
Following enquiries, a 17-year-old boy from Eastleigh was arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of a knife blade or sharp pointed article in a public place.
Detective Constable Laura Smith, of Bournemouth CID, said: “Our investigation is continuing and I am keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed the incident.
“I would also like to appeal directly to the male cyclist who was reportedly assaulted to please come forward so we can ensure you are OK and take your account of what happened.”
