Rosita said, “I was having a video call with my three younger cousins – aged five and three – who were driving their mum crazy and I offered to ‘virtually’ look after them for a while. They quickly lost interest in talking to me, but I didn’t want to let my auntie down, so I thought I’d give them a singing lesson. They loved it and it was so much easier to keep their attention and interact with them. As someone who loves to act and in normal times has professional singing lessons, I was also missing the interaction with my drama and singing teachers.

“My auntie told my uncle in Spain about the virtual singing lesson and he asked if I would do the same for his kids, and that’s where it occurred to me that it might be possible to reach out to a few more people. I really enjoy passing on what I know about controlling my voice, I enjoy interacting with young children, I thought it might help some adults whose kids are driving them mad and at £2.50 per half hour, I could earn some pocket money which I plan to put to use to help pay for my singing lessons once the self-isolation restrictions are lifted.”

Rosita now has clients throughout the UK, Spain and Portugal as well as children of ex Red Arrows fighter pilots, who are working in Saudi Arabia training for the Saudi Air Force.

Rosita added, “The only downside for my mum is that she needs to be in the room as I’m doing my sessions for safeguarding purposes. I have lesson plans for each child and write notes after each session, so I know where to pick up on the next session.”

Sadly Rosita can’t take on any more bookings as she has her studies to consider.
