Teenagers urged to act responsibly during exam results weeks

Dorset Police has issued words of warning for teenagers tempted to excesses as they receive their exam results.

The receiving of exam results can result in high spirits, but Dorset Police has a word of warning.

Teenagers are being asked to consider the following when celebrating:

Remember to do so responsibly, thinking of others around you, such as neighbours, the elderly and young children
If attending a party, know your limits
Make sure your celebratory behaviour doesn’t descend into anti-social behaviour
If out and about, plan your journey home and consider arranging a lift with friends if you are unfit to drive
Make sure your phone has enough battery to make calls or send messages

Chief Superintendent Julie Howe, of Dorset Police, said: “We know that results day is a culmination of several years of hard work and dedication to achieving the best outcomes for the young people of our county and they deserve to celebrate their successes.

“However, previous years have shown that the A-level and GCSE results days are some of the busiest days of the summer for policing demand.

“Therefore, we ask for our young people to please enjoy themselves and their achievements responsibly without the need for police to intervene.”
