Tens of thousands of people enjoyed what many described as ‘the best folk festival ever’ in Wimborne over the weekend of 10-12 June.
Organisers were determined that the 40th event would be a record breaker in every sense of the word – and it lived up to expectations. There was dancing in the streets and at the Model Town with a parade snaking through the town on the Saturday afternoon.
People of all ages enjoyed music sessions on the stages in the Square, in Willow Walk and in the Allendale Centre car park, as well as at numerous pubs in the town. There were also concerts in the Allendale Centre and the Methodist church.
After an absence of two years, the delight to see the return of this festival that puts the town on the map was palpable. Its future is secured.
Huge credit must go to the Wimborne Minster Folk Festival committee under the chairmanship of Brian Harries.
