Tree-cycling raises over £10,000 for Diverse Abilities
A Dorset disability charity, Diverse Abilities, has raised more than £10,000 from donations to its tree-cycling initiative.
In excess of 1,000 trees were collected by 67 volunteers in 33 vans over the Diverse Abilities’ Tree-cycling weekend held in 22 postcode areas of Bournemouth, Poole and East Dorset. All money raised will go towards providing vital funds for the charity’s services.
Corporate and community manager, Nicole Davey, said, “We are so thrilled with everyone’s commitment, some people volunteered all three days and put in a lot of hard work. It is a group project really as it simply could not run without the support of our volunteers and the general public who clearly make good use of it. We had some returning volunteers and lots of new ones too, so it was great to see and hear such positive feedback from everyone, especially as we start planning for it in the summer.”
Sponsors of the Diverse Abilities’ initiative include Maidmans Removals and Storage, Timbers Tree Care, Keyfort, Waste Management Facilities, Stewarts Garden Centres and many more who provided their time and expertise.
Clare Miller of Waste Management Facilities Ltd, said, “WMF were thrilled to sponsor this year’s Christmas tree collection scheme, it’s a great initiative for an incredibly worthy cause. With the amazing organisation from the Diverse Abilities’ team and support from kind volunteers, this fantastic scheme is set to grow and grow!”
