Tribute to The Who at the Tivoli in November
You will be able to hear hits of The Who including My Generation and Substitute at the Wimborne theatre on 19 November.
The Goldhawks return to The Tivoli Theatre, Wimorne Minster on Friday 19 November with their new production, ‘The Who Story’, two hours of barnstorming hits and anthems sure to get you on your feet and singing along.
Following their last sold-out show, ’Quadrophenia – the album, LIVE!’ back in 2019, this latest show delivers all of The Who’s astounding back-catalogue with iconic numbers such as ‘My Generation,’ ’Won’t Get Fooled Again’ and ‘Substitute’.
The Goldhawks formed only three years ago but their rise in popularity grew astonishingly fast.
Doug Freeman, the band’s lead vocalist said: “We weren’t sure what to expect when we came out on stage for our first theatre show in Bedford. We knew we had a strong foundation of the best musicians, we knew we enjoyed performing the show in rehearsals but we really didn’t expect a standing ovation on our very first outing followed by hundreds of five-star reviews. We were humbled.”
With that smash-hit theatre tour under their belt, culminating with film stars, Phil Daniels, Trevor Laird and Jane Horrocks joining them on stage at the final, sold-out show in Brighton, they had already began to plan their next production.
Saul Watson, the band’s answer to John Entwistle, said: “With an eight-piece band we’re able to recreate the huge, lush and exciting sound of The Who’s finest records and backed with a seven metre-wide film screen showing a bespoke film, musically and visually, there’s a lot of excitement going on onstage.”
Will Foxlow, close friend of Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey of The Who and now a staunch fan of The Goldhawks sais: “This show is absolutely first class. Having toured and worked with The Who for 10 years I can safely say that this band is the next best thing and the closest you will ever get to the real thing.”
Long-standing Who follower, Roger Clifford, reviewing the show on social media said: “I have seen the Who 20 plus times since 1969 at the Isle of Wight Festival and The Goldhawks performance was wonderful. They performed just like the actual Who, absolutely brilliant.”
