Borough of Poole is pleased to announce that Drew Smith Ltd has been selected to drive forward the building of Trinidad Extra Care Housing Village following a tender process.
The planning application for the block of 54 extra care apartments with communal facilities at Trinidad House in Rossmore was unanimously approved earlier this year. Drew Smith Ltd will now work alongside Poole Housing Partnership (PHP) and Borough of Poole to bring these plans to life, with building work set to start in November.
Trinidad Village will provide much-needed extra care housing in Poole, as well as becoming a focal point for the Rossmore community. Plans include a central courtyard with seating areas, landscaped gardens and terraces which will provide a relaxing environment for residents to enjoy. Residents and the local community will also benefit from brand new, state-of-the-art facilities, including restaurant, spa and beauty salon. An attractive entrance will welcome visitors to the site, which will be easily accessible for all.
Cllr Karen Rampton, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Housing, Borough of Poole, said: “We are pleased that a contractor has now been appointed to oversee this development. There is a growing need for this type of accommodation in Poole and we are pleased to see the project progressing, which will provide extra care housing for some of our more vulnerable residents. We will be working closely with PHP and Drew Smith Ltd as building work begins on this important site.”

Borough of Poole Council has also recently approved an additional £0.964M investment in the project, to allow for the installation of an array of solar panels, as well as to cover costs incurred due to changes in the market since original cost estimates were completed.
