TV stars to attend Bournemouth interior design event
Texture Talks will feature television personalities from the BBC and Channel 4 to discuss modern design trends.
Two TV stars and top industry experts are coming to an event in Bournemouth to discuss modern design trends in interior design and architecture.
Taking place on Tuesday 30 September at Pavilion Dance South West, ‘Texture Talks’ will feature John Cooper, who is this year’s winner of BBC’s ‘Interior Design Masters’ and an alumnus from Arts University Bournemouth, as well as Max McMurdo, a Bournemouth University graduate known for his work on Channel 4’s ‘George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces’ and Bournemouth University alumnus.
Other speakers on the day will include Vanessa Brady, president of the Society of British and International Interior Design, who is also a globally respected figure known for shaping some of the industry’s highest standards, and Michael Grubb, a lighting designer known for his innovative approach to light for spatial storytelling.
Texture Talks will feature panel discussions, thought leadership, and networking opportunities. Topics for the day include the rise of eco-friendly materials and methods, balancing rising costs and value engineering with design quality, and the growing role of wellbeing and mental health in the built environment.
The event is co-founded by AUB alumnus and lecturer Katie Thomas and business partner Nathan Neal. Thomas also owns and runs Dorset-based KTM Design, which has delivered designs across the country and worked on several local projects including Chicken & Blues, and Flamingo Cafes, Bournemouth School for Girls, and the new ‘Coastal Vibes’ pleasure boat in Weymouth.
Thomas said: “With an incredible line up of experts offering exclusive insights on the materials, methods, and mindsets shaping our industry, this event is a must-attend for interior design and architecture students, professionals, and enthusiasts.
“Discussions will revolve around the depth and layered decisions behind exceptional design. Our industry has had to significantly adapt in line with many challenges including rising costs, disrupted supply chains, stricter sustainability targets, and a demand for healthier, longer-lasting spaces.
“Through Texture Talks, we’ll look at ways in which the design and architecture sectors can combat these challenges head on and ensure spaces are fit for the future, delivering excellence and longevity in design.”
Tickets cost £38 per person with lunch included. Concessions are available for students and groups of three. To find out more information and book, visit the Texture Talks Eventbrite page.
