TV personality Justin Urquhart-Stewart recently visited Ferndown Middle School to provide an engaging and exciting presentation for year 7 and 8 pupils about “money matters”.
Justin’s lively presentation was driven by questions from the pupils. These questions were about the ‘big issues facing the world today’ as well as questions relating to them on a more personal level. For example;
“Which country will be the most powerful economically when I am thirty?”
“We are always being told that our country is in a financial mess – is this actually the case?”
“How can I best invest my money for the future?”
His direct talking and expert knowledge of the financial world made the pupils consider the economy in Great Britain and the world today. The young citizens were challenged to consider financial planning now, in preparation for their future.
The event was organised by Gary Neild, the Managing Director from ‘Blue Sky’ Financial Planning Limited. Gary has also founded the recently established Local Epicentre in West Moors. The Local Epicentre is a focal point for learning more about financial matters and encouraging people to manage their money more effectively. Mr Neild is passionate about working with local schools so that young people can achieve better understanding on money matters.
The headteacher Mrs Allen said ‘This was a fantastic opportunity for the pupils to see and hear an expert financial adviser especially as Justin Urquhart Stewart is such a respected personality from the TV. I also believe that it is so important that our education system provides young people with financial skills for their future.’
