Police arrested two men following robberies at Betfred bookmakers at around 7pm on 4 December, and McColls at around 4pm on Saturday (6 December) on Old Christchurch Road in Bournemouth.
At Betfred bookmakers two offenders wearing black clothes and armed with kitchen-style knives threatened a member of staff and stole a quantity of money.
At the McColls convenience store, a single offender, also wearing black clothes and holding a kitchen knife, threatened staff and stole an amount of cash.
Following extensive investigations overnight, two people were arrested on Sunday 7 December at an address in Bournemouth town centre. The 46-year-old and 27-year-old men, both from Bournemouth, were arrested on suspicion of both offences.
Acting Detective Inspector Andy Roberts of Bournemouth CID said: “While incidents of this nature are statistically very low in Bournemouth, I understand that local people will still be concerned when they happen, particularly when a number take place in a short period of time.
“I would like to reassure the public that we responded quickly to both of these robberies, with a team of officers working overnight and throughout the weekend.”
