Wimborne Town FC maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 0-0 draw against visitors Wantage Town at Cuthbury on Saturday. This was a game the Magpies should have won, but were let down by a lack of clinical finishing.
Wimborne played the last half-hour with only 10-men following Ian Oliver’s dismissal. Wantage were also left shorthanded after Jake Johns was sent off late in the game.
In midweek the Magpies gained their first victory of the campaign winning 2-1 at Larkhall Athletic. Teenager Luke Horton made his league debut in goal and capped a fine performance with a second half penalty save.
Matt Kemble put the Cuthbury men into a first half lead from the penalty spot and Sam Griffin doubled the advantage in the second period before Larkhall pulled one back.
On 19 August, Wimborne Town notched up the first win at home. This Saturday, the team takes to the road with a trip to Cinderford Town. Bank Holiday Monday sees the Magpies visit Bashley, kick off 3pm.
