Unique royal performance at the Barrington, Ferndown
The State Trumpeters will be appearing at Bournemouth Youth Marching Band’s annual spring concert at the Barrington Centre in Ferndown on 27 March.
Bournemouth Youth Marching Band are aiming to bring an unparalleled royal musical performance to a local audience when they play host to the State Trumpeters.
The professional musicians will leave the Band of the Household Cavalry behind for one night only and will join Bournemouth Youth Marching Band at the Barrington Centre in Ferndown for a spectacular concert which is set to be a unique fusion of traditional military music along with modern pop classics. It is without doubt the talent of Dorset’s young musicians, some as young as eight, will be firmly on display alongside their high-profile guests.
“We are privileged to be joined by such elite musicians and this is giving our own musicians reasons to be very excited”, says bandmaster Andrew Kinch. “We have an amazing year lined up with parades and performances across the UK so to open our year with the bar set high seems to be a fitting tribute to the talent of our incredible young musicians.”
In order for the 60 members to be fully prepared, rehearsals for this special visit started towards the end of last year and coincided with the band being awarded the King’s Award for Voluntary Service. The equivalent of an MBE for volunteer groups, the award was received by just three bands across the UK which is testament to the hard work and dedication in training, inspiring and developing young people.
To give thanks to the local community and to ensure there are no barriers to being part of the event, complimentary tickets for members of the public are now available and must be booked in advance at www.ticketsource.co.uk/bymb.
