The Mayor of Ferndown, Cllr John Lewis is holding a fundraising event in support of his charity of the year, Langside School, for children with profound learning disabilities, including cerebral palsy.
He has a very personal reason for his choice of charity as one of his granddaughters, Lily, had a very difficult birth. Mayor Lewis said, “She did not breathe for 20 minutes. A few days later she was operated on to relieve pressure on the brain. There was a very real chance that she would have been left with cerebral palsy. Naturally, this was a very worrying time for the family. However, the outcome was good and Lily is now a very lively bilingual four-year-old living in France, which my wife Barbara considers a miracle.”
The concert will be performed by Wessex Chorus at St Mary’s Church, Ferndown on 7 December at 7.30pm. It will feature a range of modern and traditional festive music for everyone to enjoy and join in. Tickets cost £6.50 and are available from Barbara Lewis on 01202 891659 or 07956 493743. All welcome.
