Following the sell out performance in Ferndown last year, this year’s Variety Remembrance at the Hub in Verwood is set to be even more spectacular.
The high profile Dorset salute of remembrance combines traditional variety with a local version of the Albert Hall Festival of Remembrance and will commemorate those who gave their lives for our freedom from the First World War, right through to recent conflicts, including recognition of the sacrifice of Malta and the end of thirteen years in Afghanistan.
There will be a special dedication to Rifleman Phil Allen from Verwood who made the ultimate sacrifice in Afghanistan in 2009.
Special guests include the Lord-Lieutenant for Dorset Angus Campbell, civic dignitaries, the Gurkhas and regimental association representatives. Guest celebrity will be Michael Medwin OBE – star of ‘The Army Game’ and much more.
The best in local amateur and professional talent of all ages will take the audience on an emotional journey of remembrance and commemoration in this centenary year of the start of the war to end all wars.
Veterans are requested to wear decorations at the event. Family members wishing to commemorate service by close relatives are also invited to wear decorations on their right hand side.
