Children from local special schools enjoyed a day out monkeying around at Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre.
There was a fun day out for 150 children at Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre thanks to Variety the Children’s Charity. Pupils from Winchelsea (Poole), Beaucroft (Wimborne) and Linwood (Bournemouth) special schools, together with young carers from St John’s and St Clement’s Schools (Boscombe) and Annie’s Nursery (Queens Park), had a marvellous time watching the antics of the monkeys. It was a cool, dry morning and the apes were particularly active, so there was a lot to see.
Volunteers from 4COM Telecommunications in Bournemouth helped throughout the day. Frances Cornelius, chair of Variety Wessex, said: “Thank you to Alison Cronin and her staff at Monkey World, and everyone who made this day a very special one for these beautiful children.”
