Following the report of a collision between a motorist and a cyclist on Wallisdown Road, police arrived at the scene but both vehicles had left.
Police were alerted to the collision involving a BMW 3 series and a cyclist on Wallisdown Road near to the Tesco Express and Subway at 7.25am on Wednesday 6 October – but it was reported that the vehicle and the cyclist had left the scene before officers arrived.
Following enquiries, the BMW was located in Castle Lane East and the driver – a 20-year-old man from Lymington – is assisting with enquiries. No arrests have been made.
The male teenage cyclist attended hospital for treatment and reported the incident later on the same day. He sustained soreness and bruising, but his injuries are not believed to be serious.
PC Tracey Downer, of the traffic unit, said: “I am carrying out an investigation into this collision and would urge anyone who witnessed what happened and has not already spoken to police to please come forward.
“I would also like to hear from any motorists who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.”
