Verwood fayre raises £19,000 for charity
Held on the August Bank Holiday Monday, the Verwood Rustic Fayre managed to raise a staggering £19,000 for local good causes.
A local community event held on the August Bank Holiday Monday has managed to raise £19,000 for local good causes.
The annual Verwood Rustic Fayre, organised by Verwood Rotary Club, is a popular day out which sees Potterne Park filled with stalls, live music, and arena entertainment.
This year’s fayre matched last year’s record fundraising amount, despite the ever-increasing costs to put on the event.
Verwood Rotarian Louisa Hiscock said: “All the months of planning came together for a wonderful afternoon out for all the family in glorious sunshine. We would like to give a big thank you to all our sponsors and volunteers — we really could not organise such a big community event without your support every year. And many thanks to all who attended on the day and joined in the fun.
“It would be hard to list all the highlights, but the Come Bye sheepdog and ducks display was popular in the arena alongside many returning favourites like the terrier races, mini horses display and egg-catching event. There were stalls to wander round, live music performances, children’s activities, classic cars and our annual corporate and family duck races, to name but a few.”
The Rotary will now commence with dividing up the £19,000 to distribute to local charities, organisations and activities across the Verwood community.
