A 24-year-old woman from Verwood suffered serious leg injuries when the red Audi A4 she was driving was involved in a serious three vehicle road traffic collision on the A350 at Kites Hill, Blandford at around 3.10pm on Monday 9 November 2015. A black Peugeot 3008 and a silver Ford Galaxy were also involved.
She remains in hospital undergoing surgery while a four-year-old child suffered cuts to her neck and left hospital on Tuesday evening. A nine-month-old baby was uninjured.
The driver of the Peugeot, a 63-year-old woman from Shillingstone, suffered fractured ribs and internal injuries. She remains in hospital receiving treatment. Her injuries are not life-threatening. However an 86-year-old man, also from Shillingstone and travelling in the Peugeot, suffered a fractured pelvis and chest injuries and remains in a life-threatening condition.
All the casualties were taken to Dorset County Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Ford Galaxy was uninjured. The road was closed for several hours while collision investigators examined the scene.
Police Sergeant Mark Farrow, of Dorset Police’s Road Traffic Unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the incident, to please come forward.
“I am aware that a number of motorists may have witnessed the incident but left the scene before police arrived. I would urge these people to please call me on 101. All calls will be treated in strict confidence.”
