Visit Dorset celebrates English Tourism Week
Potential visitors to Dorset are being told ‘You’re Welcome’ in a campaign to attract people back to the county this season.
Visit Dorset, Dorset Council’s tourism team, will be celebrating everything that the county has to offer as English Tourism Week kicks off on March 18.
The team hopes to bring visitors back to the county after a challenging two years for the whole tourism industry. Tourism and hospitality businesses across Dorset will also be getting involved.
The campaign will promote the warm welcome awaiting visitors and the range of unique and good quality experiences that are on offer. With the strapline ‘Put a Dorset spring in your step,’ the campaign will run until May to inspire visitors and local people to choose Dorset for their spring adventures and extend the tourism season.
To support the recovery efforts, Visit Dorset has launched a new destination website. So far, it has received 2.77million visits, an all-time annual high for Visit Dorset.
Cllr Tony Ferrari, Dorset Council’s portfolio holder for Economic Growth, said: “As one of the hardest hit sectors during the Covid pandemic, Dorset Council recognises the vital role that tourism plays in boosting our local economy.
“By investing in new digital technology to support this industry, we can promote why Dorset is so special, highlighting our unique natural environment such as the Jurassic Coast and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as our country and coastal towns, and the wide range of things to do whilst staying in Dorset.
“English Tourism Week is an opportunity for us to demonstrate our support to businesses and to promote the wonders of Dorset as a great place to visit.”
