The popular Twilight Walk for Women returns to Bournemouth seafront for the fourth year running this June, with all money going towards women’s health services at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
Bournemouth Hospital Charity is inviting fundraisers to form a sea of pink and take part in the 1k, 5k or 10k walk along the seafront on Friday 6 June at 8pm. Last year more than 350 former patients, local residents and hospital staff helped to raise over £20,000 by strolling in their pink Twilight t-shirts at sunset.
Consultant Gynaecologist, Mr Alex Taylor, said: “The Twilight Walk is a fantastic event – it really puts women’s health in the spotlight and helps to raise awareness of important health issues.
“A new women’s health unit is currently being built and will be in the brand new Jigsaw building. However, we still need the public’s support to help buy new equipment for the unit. Money raised from Twilight will directly help those women treated on the ward by going towards the fit out of the unit.
“Breast cancer, gynaecological cancer or miscarriage affects a huge number of women and their friends and family. With your support we can make a real difference.”
Registration forms can be picked up from the Charity Office situated in the main entrance at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital or you can download a copy at www.bournemouthhospitalcharity.co.uk. Registration costs £15 per person. Fancy dress is optional.
