West Moors plants 105 trees for Queen's Jubilee
Rain didn't prevent residents from a Dorset town turning out on Saturday 8 January with spades to plant 105 saplings.
Wrapped up against the adverse weather, and armed with spades, a group of volunteers from West Moors gathered on land behind the recently refurbished skate park and planted 105 saplings which will form a new woodland copse.
The woodland is being planted in West Moors as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee this year.
A town council spokesperson said another tree planting event would be held, so keep an eye out for the details on the West Moors Town Council Facebook page.
On 6 February, the Queen will become the first British monarch to have reigned for 70 years. Buckingham Palace has unveiled the full line up of celebrations including street parties and a concert to mark the Queen’s 70-year reign. The jubilee will culminate in a four-day UK bank holiday weekend from 2 to 5 June 2022.
