West Moors Parish Council has declared the refurbished Oakhurst play area in Shaftesbury Road, West Moors, officially open.
A £40,000 facelift, funded fully by West Moors Parish Council, has seen the installation of new, state-of-the-art play equipment, some of which is fully inclusive, and has been designed to appeal to children under 12 years of age.
The play area was presented to the children of Oakhurst First School’s student council, their head teacher Mrs Melanie Davy and Cllr Jayne Lovegrove by the parish council’s Chairman, Cllr Penny Yeo on Wednesday 9 September.
The students had the chance to try out the new equipment and enjoy a special playtime in the sunshine.
The play area is for the exclusive use of Oakhurst First School during school times, but is open for all to use outside of school hours until 7pm each evening, when it is closed.
Play features include a Multi Play (junior) Activity unit, two play panels, spinning pole, talk tubes, stepping stones, rope swing, net climber, see-saw and a basket swing.
West Moors Parish Council feels it will be a great asset to the local community, a key area for families and most importantly, a fun space for young children.
