A partnership of POPP (Partnership for Older People Programme) and PACT (Partners and Communities Together) are organising an Information Day at West Parley Sports and Social Club on 4 September 2013 between 10 and 2. At this event we are launching the new Neighbourcar Scheme for West Parley as well as the opening of the newly refurbished Sports and Social Club. There will be representatives from many service providers including Police, Fire and Rescue, Safer Neighbourhood Team, and many others. It will give local people a chance to visit the West Parley Coffee Club (every other Wednesday), Health Walks leaving the club at 10am every Wednesday and West Parley Lunch Club which is held every Wednesday at 12.00.
Earlier this year POPP (Partnership for Older People Programme) established a need for transport for the over 50s in West Parley. A committee was formed and received funding from POPP. The launch will be at this event.
The NeighbourCar Scheme gives access to transport for the isolated and people without bus routes a means of getting to doctors appointments, dentist, hospital and other medical appointments and once enough drivers are found this can be extended to incorporate almost any journey needed including social and shopping trips. We would welcome any new drivers who feel they can give a little time to help this local scheme.
We would also welcome prospective clients as we can get their details logged ready for the start date. For enquiries relating to Neighbourcar please contact: Kate Ward 01202 577319 and for enquiries relating to the Information Day – Dawn Jones 01202 578293.
