Westbourne fire station open day
Members of the public are invited to Westbourne Fire Station this Sunday 14 August for an open day.
Westbourne Fire Station is holding and open day this Sunday 14 August. The event will run from 10am to 3pm and there will be fun and entertainment for all ages.
Activities will include a cooking fire demonstration, and displays using the 42m aerial ladder platform and by the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service technical rescue team. Visitors will also be able to see specialist vehicles like the Unimog, which is used in tackling heath fires, and meet officers from Dorset Police.
Station manager Andy Corben said: “We are delighted to be able to welcome our local community back onto the fire station, as this is a great way for people to find out more about what we do. We would like as many people as possible to come along to our open day, have a great time and leave with some vital fire and road safety messages.”
All visitors are being invited to bring a bag of clothing jumble for the Fire Fighter’s Charity collection (please no bric-a-brac, plastic, toys or electrical items). Any money raised on the day will also go to the charity.
Westbourne fire station is on Alumhurst Road, Bournemouth and there is a public car park next door.
