It was back to winning ways when the Wimborne Civic Society took the honours at the Annual Wimborne in Bloom Wine and Wisdom ‘Fun’ Quiz Evening held in the Allendale Centre on Friday 6 March.
It is the fourth time that the Civic Society has won in the 22 year history of the event, the last time being in 2011. This time they were six points clear of two teams which tied for second place, Explore Dorset Ltd and Oakdale Oaks. Fourth equal, a point behind, were teams from the Minster Church and Town Meets Country. The six member winning team were presented with the Eco-Composting Shield and a bottle of wine each.
The event, including the raffle raised over £2,000, which was match funded by Barclays Bank,
Richard Nunn, Chairman of Wimborne in Bloom said: “The support of all those attending our quiz is very much appreciated by Wimborne in Bloom together with all the helpers and those who generously donated prizes for what was an excellent raffle. Such support enables us to ensure the floral displays in the town continue to please our residents and visitors.”
The money raised will be used for this years ‘In Bloom’ campaign when the town is entered into both the regional competition and the national Britain in Bloom finals. Judging of the town takes place in July for the region and in August for the national.
