Wimborne care home celebrates with a 'hip, hip, hooray' for St George’s Day!
Residents and staff at The Wimborne Care Home celebrated with dragons and roses on St George’s Day last Thursday (23 April).
In honour of the patron saint of England, staff and residents marked the day with music, games including the popular ‘pass the parcel’ with chocolate surprises and plenty of cocktails!
Giving the celebrations a gourmet twist, the chef prepared a delicious garden BBQ followed by homemade cakes and ice cream.
“I have had the most wonderful afternoon enjoyed the singing, it is great to have an ice cream cornet as it reminds me of my childhood,” said resident, Rachel Sykes.
General manager, Clare Robbins said, “Everyone at The Wimborne Care Home really enjoyed today’s festivities. The residents had written messages of thanks to all the team and these were displayed on a big heart, every member of staff received a thank you card and some love heart sweets as a token of their appreciation. In these unprecedented times, providing a range of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities for our residents is more important than ever. Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, whilst ensuring that the group activities are smaller, adhering to social distancing advice.”
The Wimborne Care Home is playing its part in the wider care sector and supporting the NHS where possible. It is currently still taking admissions for those who need care in the next four weeks.
Run by Barchester Healthcare, the Wimborne Care Home provides residential and nursing care for 26 residents and can be contacted on 01202 877614.
