Wimborne cookery store wins Independent Retailer of the Year award
Salamander Cookshop in Wimborne has been announced as winner of the Independent Retailer of the Year category in the 2024 Housewares Awards.
A cookery store in Wimborne has been named as Independent Retailer of the Year in the 2024 edition of the Housewares Awards.
Salamander Cookshop on Wimborne High Street was announced as the recipient of the award in the June/July issue of industry publication Housewares magazine.
On the news that they had received the award, David and Ione Crossley, co-owners of Salamander, thanked their team and all their customers for their interest, enthusiasm and support. They also thanked their suppliers for all their advice, staff training and help.
For over 30 years, the national Housewares Awards has recognised and rewarded the best retailers, products and suppliers from across the housewares sector.
Will McGill, editor of Housewares magazine, said: “Each nominee has demonstrated outstanding dedication to enhancing everyday living through exceptional products and shopping experiences.”
He also praised the individuals and teams who have pushed boundaries and redefined standards in housewares.
Salamander was picked from among five finalists. In their comments, the judges highlighted how the shop had managed to bring the retail environment alive
through events such as evenings with TV chef Peter Sidwell, KitchenAid’s Anita Davidson and Brewed by Hand’s Luke Powell, as well as its annual Wimborne Food Walk which promotes other retailers in the town. The judges also praised the ways that Salamander promoted itself and the products it offers.
