Wimborne Drama Productions to stage Sense and Sensibility
The company are returning to Deans Court after an absence of two years with this production of the Jane Austen play.
Supporters of Wimborne Drama Productions’ open air performances will be delighted that the company are returning to Deans Court in July after an absence of two years.
Originally scheduled for 2020, they are staging Sense and Sensibility, Jane Austen’s famous story which has been adapted for stage by Jessica Swale
Director Tracey Nicholls said: “I am over-the-moon to finally have the opportunity to direct this beautiful play. The cast and crew have worked incredibly hard to bring Austen’s much-loved story to life and we can’t wait to bring long-awaited joy to our audiences in the idyllic setting of Deans Court.”
Elinor and Marianne Dashwood are left penniless after their wealthy half-brother cheats them of their fortune. They are forced to leave the comforts of Norland Park and relocate to a cold Devonshire cottage. When a devilishly handsome stranger arrives at Barton Cottage with the rain-drenched Marianne in his arms, the Dashwood girls are convinced that their fortunes are changed forever. Whilst the sensible Elinor pines for quiet Edward Ferrars, impulsive Marianne loses herself in the idea of her hero on horseback, and for a girl who feasts on poetry and music, what else is there to do in Devon but dream of rescue?
Bring a picnic and something to sit on, and relax in the stunning grounds of Deans Court as you enjoy one of the great stories from English literature.
There are performances on 14, 15 and 16 July at 7pm and on 17 July at 5pm. Grounds open for picnics 60 minutes before performance starts. There is free parking. Vehicle access is via Poole Road (BH21 1QF). Pedestrians should use the Deans Court Lane entrance (BH21 1EE).
