Wimborne fundraiser for Ukraine
The community in Wimborne came together on Friday 18 March to raise funds for the Shelterbox Ukraine Appeal.
Wimborne’s Allendale Centre, in conjunction with Wimborne Rotary and ShelterBox, held a fundraiser for Ukraine on Friday 18 March, with proceeds going to the ShelterBox Ukraine Appeal.
Raffle tickets had been available during the week, with prize hampers on offer thanks to the generous donation of the Minster Market traders. With ShelterBox and Wimborne Rotary onsite during the Minster Market on Friday to demonstrate the equipment they are providing already to support Ukraine, the fundraising boxes started to fill up.
In the afternoon, local children were invited to Paint a Rock for Ukraine in yellow and blue, and add a message of hope. Some of the rocks remain on display at the Allendale Centre’s reception.
The evening saw a selection of live music in the Minster Hall, compered by Paul Kinvig and Rupert Barrington. With performances from Jo Michaels, Evelyn Walsh, the Polly Morris Band and Dorset Police Male Voice Choir plus many more. Entry was by donation and the raffle continued throughout the evening. The total amount raised was £2,104.72 which will be sent straight out to ShelterBox which already has a presence in Poland.
