Waddle Wimborne do over duck issue?
For the past 20 years, Wimborne in Bloom has held a duck race on the August Bank Holiday Saturday, but sadly this year’s event scheduled for 29 August has had to be cancelled.
Organised by Anthony Oliver when he was mayor, the first event in 2000 went swimmingly and raised £700 for the flower tower in the square. Last year funds flew to more than £1,700.
Wimborne in Bloom has also had to cancel the M&Co fashion show in October and the pre-Christmas coffee morning in November. However, it is hoped to hold the charities fair in the Allendale Centre on Saturday 14 November.
