Wimborne Minster church closed for worship
The decision to close the church has been made in order to keep worshippers – who live in both Tiers 3 and 4 – safe.
Although Wimborne is in Tier 3, the Minster church is now closed for public worship.
The congregation is made up of worshippers from both Tier 3 and Tier 4 and so the rector the Rev Canon Andrew Rowland and the churchwardens have decided it is no longer safe to open the church for worship or access.
In a message to parishioners, the Rev Canon Rowland said, “We want to act responsibly to reduce the spread of this virus which has evidently become much more contagious of late, and thus much riskier to all. The NHS is struggling to cope with increased hospitalisations and we want to protect them and our vulnerable church members.”
