The people of Wimborne gathered around the Minster on Friday 15 August to mark the 80th anniversary of the surrender of Japan which led to the ending of WWII.
A short service was led by the rector The Rev Canon Andrew Rowland, assisted by the chaplain the Rev Bill French.
The service was attended by HM Lord Lieutenant Michael Dooley, the Mayor of Wimborne Minster, Cllr Jeff Hart, and representatives from the Royal British Legion.
The rector’s address centred on a prayer for peace across the world.
After the Last Post, a two-minute silence was held before the laying of wreaths on the Minster Memorial.
