Wimborne Minster set for Christmas fun
Saturday 29 November is the day when Christmas really comes to the town, with a wide range of entertainment and the lights switch-on event.
Christmas really begins in Wimborne on Saturday 29 November with lots of entertainment and the switching on of the town’s lights.
Supported by Wimborne BID, there will be a Christmas market in the High Street Car Park from 11am, plus a big variety of entertainment with live music and performances in the Square starting with The Quarterjacks of Wimborne marching band at 1pm.
The lights switch-on will be at 5pm followed by the chance to warm up your vocal chords and sing some carols. Wimborne’s militia will officially welcome the festive season in with a gunfire salute on the Minster Green to round off the day.
The free festive entertainment continues into December with Wimborne’s Save the Children parade on Saturday 13 December. There’s also a chance to meet Father Christmas and to have a go at the Great Christmas Pudding Stir in the Museum of East Dorset.
Carols in the Cornmarket returns on Friday19 December for its 19th year. Song sheets are provided.
Free parking in some of the car parks is available on Friday 28 November, Saturday 29 November and Saturday 6 December. Car parks excluded are the High Street, Waitrose and Co-Op.
