Wimborne Minster’s first Mayoral Walk proves a big success
The inaugural guided walk around Wimborne Minster attracted 65 people and raised £132.50 for the Mayor’s charities.
Wimborne Minster held its first guided walk on Sunday 21 July, providing the public with an informative journey through the history and culture of the town led by local experts.
The Mayoral Walks, which will be held once a month until April next year, are an idea from Wimborne’s new Mayor, Cllr Jeff Hart. A total of 65 people attended the inaugural walk led by Malcolm Angel.
The walks are free of charge, but donations to the Mayor’s nominated charities – Planet Wimborne and Friends of Victoria Hospital, are gratefully received.
Mayor Jeff Hart said the first walk was a “delight”. He added: “Malcolm Angel led the tour with passion and energy. Everyone learned more about our wonderful town, and we collected £132.50 for the Mayor’s charities.”
The next Mayoral Walk will take place on 18 August, then on 22 September, 20 October, 24 November, 8 December 2024 and then 26 January, 16 February, 23 March and 20 April next year.
The walks start at 11am from the Square, and last approximately one hour and are suitable for all ages. There is no need to book, just turn up and join.
