A column of historic military vehicles will drive the Mayor of Wimborne Minster from Allenbourne School at 10.45am around the town to the Square on Saturday, 25 October, where he will launch the 2014 Poppy Appeal, which helps serving and former servicemen and women.
The owners of the vehicles (Dorset Military Vehicle Trust) are supporting the Poppy Appeal in Wimborne by giving a splash of interest to the start of the main appeal leading up to Remembrance Sunday. Additionally they preserve a part of our national heritage at their own expense.
The Garden of Remembrance will be set up near the War Memorial on Minster Green for people to place poppy crosses in memory. These will be available from poppy sellers and at static points in some shops and public houses.
