Wimborne produces a festive romcom
‘A Match Made in Wimborne’ is a short film showcasing Wimborne businesses interwoven with a romantic story.
Supermarket chains aren’t the only ones producing Christmas adverts, as once again Wimborne BID has created a festive film.
‘A Match Made in Wimborne’ is a 90-second short film brimming with romance, comedy, small-town charm and the magic of shopping local for Christmas.
Filmed inside its independent shops, the story follows two strangers, Jen and Harry, whose chance encounters grow funnier and more surprising with every gift they buy. As the coincidences mount — or is it fate? — Wimborne itself feels like an unseen matchmaker, leading to a heart-stopping finale under the glow of the Christmas lights.
“‘A Match Made in Wimborne’ celebrates everything people love about our town — community, independent shops, laughter, warmth and a touch of Christmas romance,” said Fiona Pawsey, chairperson of Wimborne BID.
“It’s a love letter to shopping locally and to the memories we make along the way.”
The film stars professional actress and TV presenter Rhiannon Duffin from Parkstone, alongside Shaftesbury business owner Jim Chetwode.
Rhiannon said: “It’s been such great fun filming this. So many people stopped to watch and chat, and the businesses gave us such a warm reception. Watch out, Richard Curtis — this could be the makings of your next romcom!”
Jim said: “As a business owner, I think this advert is a brilliant way to support small businesses and encourage people to shop local.”
The short film premieres on Sunday 30 November across social media.
This marks the eighth year Wimborne BID has funded a Christmas advert for the town, produced once again with Justin Gray of Gray Creative Agency, whose clients include household names B&Q and John Lewis.
